About this module
Systems thinking is usually taught as an abstract academic skill, something students practice on a textbook diagram, when it is in fact the most practical lens available for understanding why a school behaves the way it does, as one interconnected system nested inside district, community, and global systems larger than itself. This module applies that lens directly to a teacher's own school, building the capacity to trace how a change in one part of the system ripples, often unpredictably, through the rest of it.
What you'll explore
Three lanes of knowing
What's understood about how systems thinking reveals the interconnected, often unpredictable ripple effects of change within a school.
A short, practical exercise mapping this school as an interconnected system, rather than a list of separate programs and departments.
Reflection on the district, community, and global forces shaping this school, whether acknowledged or not.
Outcome
"I can map my school as one interconnected system, not a list of separate parts."
