About this module

A school doesn't end at its own front door.

This closing module of Level 3 widens the frame one final time, consolidating the systems thinking, culture design, and partnership work of this entire level into a single view of the school as an ecosystem, interdependent with the families, policies, community institutions, and technologies surrounding it. A teacher completing this level leaves not with a checklist of separate initiatives but with one coherent picture of the school as a living, interconnected whole they are now equipped to help design.

What you'll explore

What this module consolidates.

  • How family, policy, community, and technology function as one interdependent ecosystem around a school.
  • How this level's full arc, adult dynamics, adaptive capacity, creative culture, systems and partnership, now consolidates into one view.
  • What becomes possible once a school is designed as an ecosystem rather than managed as a set of separate initiatives.
  • Where this teacher's own school currently treats its ecosystem as fragmented, and what unifying it could look like.
  • A first, grounded articulation of what kind of school designer this teacher is becoming.

Three lanes of knowing

Understood, practiced, and explored.

Lane 1 · Science

The school as an ecosystem

What's understood about how treating a school as an interdependent ecosystem, rather than separate initiatives, changes what's possible to design.

Lane 2 · Practice

An ecosystem-mapping practice

A short, consolidating exercise mapping this school's actual ecosystem of family, policy, community, and technology relationships.

Lane 3 · Meaning-making

What kind of school designer am I becoming?

Reflection consolidating this entire level into one honest articulation of this teacher's emerging design identity.

Outcome

"I can see and design for my school as one living ecosystem, not a set of separate parts."
