About this module

This work multiplies only when it's handed to someone else.

A teacher who has come this far through the pathway now carries something worth passing on, and this module builds the specific facilitation and mentorship skill required to train other teachers well, which is a genuinely different skill than teaching students. Carrying this work past a single classroom or even a single school depends on a teacher's ability to mentor colleagues through the same developmental arc they've just completed.

What you'll explore

Four shifts this module is building toward.

  • Why training adult colleagues requires a genuinely different skill set than teaching students.
  • A few concrete facilitation practices for mentoring a colleague through this pathway's developmental arc.
  • What this teacher's own mentors did well, and what they'd want to do differently as a mentor themselves.
  • A realistic first step toward mentoring one specific colleague.

Three lanes of knowing

Understood, practiced, and explored.

Lane 1 · Science

Adult facilitation versus student teaching

What's understood about how effective adult facilitation and mentorship differ meaningfully from effective student-facing teaching.

Lane 2 · Practice

A mentorship-practice exercise

A short, practical exercise planning how this teacher would mentor one specific colleague through an early stage of this same pathway.

Lane 3 · Meaning-making

What did my own mentors get right?

Reflection on what this teacher's own best mentors modeled well, and what they want to carry forward themselves.

Outcome

"I have a real plan for mentoring one colleague through this same developmental work."
